I am excited beyond words! All of these years, I’ve never even attempted to try to stitch on linen because it looked too difficult. But, after viewing the different blogs and seeing the completed projects on linen, I knew I had to at least try.
I got advice from my friend Deb who told me that the Better Homes & Garden’s Alphabet Heart Sampler would be a perfect beginning piece for me to try, so I went shopping for linen. I was lucky to find several pieces on clearance at JoAnn’s so that was a sign that I had to at least give it a try.
This is my progress on my first piece. It’s stitched on 28 ct ivory linen using DMC variegated garnet floss. This will go perfect in my bonus room.
I have a coworker who is purchasing her first home and I found a pattern by Gloria Moore (Milady’s Needle), “At Home With Family & Friends.” I purchased 32 ct sand dune linen to stitch on, so I’ve got to finish my heart sampler soon so I can get started on it!

Hi and welcome to blogland. I was pretty hesitant about starting a crafting blog but I tell ya, it's an outlet that is sometime needed and the ladies here are sooo kind and encouraging!! You'll soon become hooked!

Hi! Thanks for leaving a note on my blog! You and I seem to have a lot in common. I, too, started sewing and doing embroidery when I was a teenager. I also did a lot of crocheting when I was in college. I learned to cross stitch in 1979. I also stopped stitching in the early 90s because I got too busy with my children and teaching. I finally picked it back up in 2005, when both my kids were teenagers. I have only been stitching on linen the last couple of months. I really like it. I was also inspired by other stitchers on the net. I really enjoy my blog. It's neat to have internet friends all over the world and they really do inspire me!! I'm glad to add you to that list!
